Inflammatory diseases of muscles are a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by proximal muscle weakness and nonsuppurative inflammation of muscles. Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies are relatively rare diseases, but they are the most frequent and serious cause of myopathy in patients under 16 years. Clinical manifestations can occur in a variety of combinations or patterns, and no single feature is specific or diagnostic, making the correct differential diagnosis with other syndromes that result in skeletal muscle dysfunction a difficult task. We report six cases of patients diagnosed at childhood, seen at the rheumatology department at HU-UFJF.Downloads
